What makes non-Digital Bathroom Scales lose their accuracy over time?
You know, you step on once, it’s one reading, then you step on again two seconds later, and it’s another, and a third time it’s another yet. The needle/pointer just kinda gets lazy?
I have a digital scale, but need to console a friend who called me crying this morning over what the scale said. This question may sound funny and obsessive, but try dealing with a friend with an eating disorder. It’s not funny.
Not only does the spring steel spring inside start to lose it’s tension over time and use, but the plate you stand on and the receiver assembly around it can get everyday dirt and hair and stuff in it – that impacts the ability for the plate you stand on to move smoothly, which in turn may vary the reading you get.
